Role-Play: Lights - Camera - Action
Role-playing takes place between two or more students who act out roles in different scenarios. Preparing for a situation using role-play builds self-confidence in handling difficulty in real life. These are simple steps to follow in the classroom.
- IDENTIFY PROBLEM Use a problem from one of the Powerful You stories or use a difficult situation that occured at recess.
- CHOOSE VOLUNTEERS “Who would like to be the actor and actress?” Young children beg to gently hold the Powerful You Cards to act out scenarios.
- ADD DETAILS Where is this scene taking place? How does each actor/acress feel? How might their face look?
- ACT OUT SCENERIO. Use the clapper to say, “Lights, Camera, Action!” Act out positive and negative responses.
- DISCUSS WHAT YOU LEARNED What are the consequences of the different actions? Post the Powerful You Classroom Sign after reading the story that corresponds with each each A-Z Powerful You lesson.
